Baseball Game Preview: Old Town Coyotes vs. Ellsworth Eagles

The Old Town Coyotes will challenge the Ellsworth Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Old Town lost a heartbreaker the last time they played John Bapst Memorial, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Coyotes were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Crusaders on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Nate Baker, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Carter Osnoe, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Old Town kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Ellsworth waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Trojans 11-1. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly ten runs.

Ellsworth pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Old Town, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Old Town came out on top in a nail-biter against Ellsworth in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Coyotes repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
