Basketball Game Preview: Latta Vikings vs. Lake View Wild Gators

Latta and Lake View are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Latta Vikings just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Lake View Wild Gators at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Latta played against Fairmont and lost via forfeit.

Lake View is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. The match between them and Carvers Bay didn't end well, with Lake View falling 54-37.

Despite the loss, Lake View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cameron Wheeler posted four points and six rebounds. Jamere Barden was another key player, putting up four points.

Even though they lost, Lake View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Latta's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Lake View, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Latta couldn't quite finish off Lake View in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 and fell 53-50. Can Latta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
