Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. Olney Trojans

The Northeast Vikings will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Olney Trojans at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northeast has 14 straight victories, Olney has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Even though Northeast has not done well against Frankford recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Northeast enjoyed a cozy 63-49 victory over Frankford. Given Northeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Frankford is ranked 463rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Michael Freeman, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyree Williams, who scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks.

Olney suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 76-53 walloping at the hands of Science Leadership Academy at Beeber.

Northeast's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-1. As for Olney, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Northeast came up short against Olney when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 52-44. Can Northeast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
