Muskogee takes loss despite strong efforts from D'mya Brown and Malaysia Burton

Recap: Muskogee Roughers vs. Bartlesville Bruins

The Muskogee Roughers lost against the Bartlesville Bruins back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Muskogee took a hard 48-31 fall against Bartlesville.

Despite the defeat, Muskogee had strong showings from Malaysia Burton, who scored 15 points along with four steals, and D'mya Brown, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals. That was a full 48.4% of Muskogee's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Muskogee dropped their record down to 5-14 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Bartlesville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Muskogee will take on Bixby at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bixby presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Muskogee in Oklahoma (Bixby is ranked 30th, while Muskogee is ranked 284th). As for Bartlesville, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Edmond Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Edmond Memorial is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.
