Recap: Plainfield East Bengals vs. Romeoville Spartans

The Plainfield East Bengals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 73-58 to Romeoville. While losing is never fun, Plainfield East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while Romeoville is ranked 83rd).

When it comes to explaining why Plainfield East lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lexi Sepulveda. Despite the final result, she scored 24 points. The contest was Sepulveda's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dimora Shelton, who scored five points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Plainfield East has fallen quite a ways from their 22-7 record last season and are now at 4-7. As for Romeoville, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Plainfield East will be playing at home against West Aurora at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Romeoville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Thornton Fractional South at 4:30 p.m. on December 13th.
