Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Broncos vs. Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals

The Centennial Broncos will venture away from home to take on the Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Centennial is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 11th on Tuesday. They came up short against Milford, falling 60-38. The Broncos have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 56 points the game before, Doniphan-Trumbull was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Central City and fell 59-18. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Bison are ranked 40th).

Charlee Richter was Doniphan-Trumbull's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Emma Hoppe held things down on the boards with five rebounds. Lily Elsbury took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Doniphan-Trumbull dropped their record down to 2-17 with the loss, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Centennial was able to grind out a solid win over Doniphan-Trumbull when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 33-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centennial since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
