Baseball Recap: Union Pines Takes a Loss

Union Pines started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against West Johnston. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Wednesday.

Preston Whitaker was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Brodie Lyczkowski was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Union Pines' loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for West Johnston, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Union Pines didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-1 defeat against Pinecrest on the 23rd. As for West Johnston, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-1 victory against East Wake on the 23rd.
