Softball Recap: China Spring Comes Up Short

China Spring fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Gatesville on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 6-5. The Cougars have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Chelsea Buro spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Taryn Crouch was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlin Klement, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

China Spring's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Gatesville, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-10-1 record.

While China Spring had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
