Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Trojans vs. Leon Lions

The Lincoln Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Leon Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lincoln's tournament run continued when they took on Marianna last Saturday. Lincoln fell just short of Marianna by a score of 50-47.

Meanwhile, Leon came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Yellow Jackets 50-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since December 18, 2023.

Lincoln better keep an eye on Aaron Pensel. He was instrumental in Leon's win, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Pensel has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of DeKendrick Williams, who posted 12 points.

Leon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Leon, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Lincoln came out on top in a nail-biter against Leon in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 70-68. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
