Softball Game Preview: Lee Academy Cavaliers vs. Richard Winn Academy Eagles

The Lee Academy Cavaliers will face off against the Richard Winn Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lee Academy has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lee Academy came up short against Williamsburg Academy on Wednesday, falling 15-1. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Stallions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Lee Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ansley Nesbit, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Richard Winn Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four last Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Cavaliers.

Abby Lewis and Margaret Swearingen did most of the damage at the plate: Lewis got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Swearingen got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Swearingen has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Meghan Guzzi, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Richard Winn Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee Academy only posted an OBP of .343.

Lee Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Richard Winn Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
