Basketball Game Preview: Pinnacle Classical Academy Eagles vs. Highland Tech Rams

Pinnacle Classical Academy hasn't had much luck against Highland Tech recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will face off against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Eagles fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. They came out on top against Lake Lure Classical Academy by a score of 38-29 on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Pinnacle Classical Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nylah Littlejohn, who posted ten points. Lily Wellmon was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Highland Tech beat Piedmont Community Charter 55-50 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Highland Tech's win came from a few key players Pinnacle Classical Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lily Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was Nyla Rae Bailey, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Highland Tech was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Pinnacle Classical Academy might still be hurting after the 44-18 loss they got from Highland Tech when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
