Baseball Game Preview: Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs vs. Spanish River Sharks

The Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Spanish River Sharks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dr. Joaquin Garcia will be strutting in after a victory while Spanish River will be coming in after a loss.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Seminole Ridge 6-5.

Trevor Palmieri made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, JP Mcdonough looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

Back at the plate, Chase Webster was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rocco Castrillon, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Spanish River came up short against Forest Hill on Monday and fell 8-4. The loss was the Sharks' first of the season.

Santiago Enciso made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The victory got Dr. Joaquin Garcia back to even at 2-2. As for Spanish River, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Spanish River when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Dr. Joaquin Garcia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
