Softball Game Preview: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Windermere Prep Lakers

The Cocoa Beach Minutemen will venture away from home to take on the Windermere Prep Lakers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cocoa Beach has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cocoa Beach came up short against Astronaut on Wednesday, falling 12-6. The loss continues a trend for the Minutemen in their meetings with the War Eagles: they've now lost nine in a row.

Zoe Vella spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and nine unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cocoa Beach saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessie Fair, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Windermere Prep didn't have quite enough to beat Lyman on Thursday and fell 6-5.

Vanessa Nawracaj was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Nawracaj was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Windermere Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Cocoa Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Cocoa Beach couldn't quite get it done against Windermere Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can Cocoa Beach avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
