Basketball Game Preview: Hampden Broncos vs. Bangor Rams

The Hampden Broncos are taking a road trip to face off against the Bangor Rams at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Hampden has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Hampden is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Messalonskee 65-47 on Thursday. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Eagles are ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bangor entered their tilt with Portland on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 56-47 win over the Bulldogs.

Bangor is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Hampden, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

Hampden skirted past Bangor 44-41 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Will Hampden repeat their success, or does Bangor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
