Basketball Recap: Lely Comes Up Short

Lely was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gulf Coast Sharks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-48 last Tuesday.

Lely's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Gulf Coast, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lely will venture away from home to take on Golden Gate at 3:30 p.m. on January 23rd. One thing working in Lely's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Gulf Coast, they are taking a road trip to face off against Barron Collier at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gulf Coast knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Barron Collier likes a good challenge.
