Softball Recap: Curwensville Takes Down Northern Potter in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Curwensville rose to the challenge on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Northern Potter Panthers a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Golden Tide, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Addison Siple made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Hainsey, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Addyson Neiswender was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Curwensville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Curwensville is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Northern Potter, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-5.

As of now, neither Curwensville nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
