Softball Recap: Rye Cove Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Rye Cove came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Johnson County Longhorns as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Harlee Cress was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Gracen Chavez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Rye Cove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .893. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Rye Cove's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. As for Johnson County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rye Cove beat the Longhorns by a score of 9-1 later that day.
