Basketball Recap: Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology entered their game against Edison on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology Colonials fell 50-42 to the Edison Eagles. The Colonials were probably out for revenge after losing 50-31 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Loss or not, Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology got some senior leadership from Kaiden Kerkulah and Abigail Lee. Kerkulah dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds, while Lee posted 14 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Kerkulah has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Manya Yellepeddy, who earned seven points.

Even though they lost, Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Edison, their win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hayfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season. As for Edison, they will take on Ossining in a tournament on Thursday. Ossining knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Edison likes a good challenge.
