Baseball Recap: Olympian Triumphs

It was a Battle of the Birds when Olympian duked it out with Canyon Crest Academy on Tuesday. The Eagles came out on top against the Ravens by a score of 7-2. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Ravens, too.

Landon Holtzapple tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nico Cintron, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Josh Alo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Olympian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canyon Crest Academy only managed four.

Olympian's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Olympian will square off against Coronado at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they will host Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Ravens' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Caimans have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
