After flying high against Grace Davis last Wednesday, Lathrop came back down to earth. The Spartans fell 20-14 to the Ceres Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Lathrop lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was JaLeiyah Ray, who picked up 116 receiving yards and one touchdown. Faith Allen also helped out with an impressive 117 receiving yards.

Lathrop didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ray and Abby Rentaria.

Lathrop's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Ceres, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-6.

Coming up, Lathrop will take on Johansen at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ceres, they will challenge Pacheco at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 13.3 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
