Softball Recap: Southwood Takes a Loss

Southwood dropped their record down to 13-8 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Oak Hill Golden Eagles, falling 10-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 16-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Gracie Lambert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Oak Hill, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.

On Oak Hill's side, Karsyn Wiley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Wiley has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ry-Ry Myers was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Liz Godfrey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Oak Hill beat Southwood by a score of 4-3 later that day.
