Baseball Recap: West Holmes Comes Up Short

West Holmes extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 5-13. They fell 9-4 to the Tri-Valley Scotties. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Scotties from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Tri-Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Tri-Valley's part, Blayne Riley was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Riley has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Lamonica, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

West Holmes and Tri-Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Knights will take on Galion at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (450 vs. 85). Meanwhile, Tri-Valley (ranked 292nd) will meet New Philadelphia (ranked 54th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
