Recap: Anthony Wildcats vs. Eastlake Falcons
The Anthony Wildcats lost against the Eastlake Falcons back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Anthony was dealt a 59-28 defeat at the hands of Eastlake. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Anthony in their matchups with Eastlake: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Anthony still got an impressive performance from Julie Cuellar, who scored 17 points. Cuellar scored a full 60.7% of Anthony's points, the 17th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Aissa Castillo, who scored seven points.
Anthony's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Eastlake, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anthony will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Da Vinci at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. As for Eastlake, they will head out on the road to face off against Pebble Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pebble Hills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eastlake in Texas (Pebble Hills is ranked 109th, while Eastlake is ranked 818th).
