Baseball Recap: Mesa Verde Beats Highlands for Their Fifth Straight Win

Mesa Verde waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Highlands Scots as they made off with a 9-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-1 last Tuesday.

Caden Seevers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Max Biondo was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Jonny Alger, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Biondo wasn't the only one making solid contact: Mesa Verde kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highlands only managed three hits.

Mesa Verde's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Highlands, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mesa Verde is set to square off against their familiar foe Vacaville Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Highlands will take on rival Lindhurst at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
