Basketball Recap: Knoxville Catholic Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Amaya Redd and Ensley Perry

Knoxville Catholic lost against Webb back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish fell 50-43 to the Webb Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Irish can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Spartans are ranked second).

Despite the loss, Knoxville Catholic had strong showings from Ensley Perry, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Amaya Redd, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards. Those ten boards gave Perry a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Knoxville Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Knoxville Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Webb, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.

The future could be bright for both Knoxville Catholic and Webb: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Knoxville Catholic will try to hand Baylor their fourth-straight loss when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Webb will look to extend Girls Prep's three-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
