Softball Recap: Ely Takes a Loss

Ely lost to Cherry back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Timberwolves lost 9-3 to the Tigers. The Timberwolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Makenzi Huntington made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Julia Zgonc, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Ely now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cherry, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ely will take on Mesabi East at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Giants have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.4 runs per game on average), something the Timberwolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cherry, they will square off against Chisholm at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
