5A District 1 recap September 10, 2013
Bay was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 5A District 1. Earlier in the week, the Tornadoes triumphed over Port St. Joe 19-0.
Arnold moved up to 230 from 332 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Marlins were able to make move up by beating Florida State University 13-10.
Pensacola Catholic's dynamic duo of Cody Henry and Tylan Purifoy proved tough for Pine Forest to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Henry threw for 195 yards and 3 touchdowns and Purifoy had 111 yards receiving. Jeremy Reaves helped Pensacola Catholic's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 37 yards.
The Crusaders' dynamic duo of Henry and Purifoy proved to be unstoppable against the Eagles, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Henry put up the best numbers in passing as Pensacola Catholic defeated Pine Forest.
Raekwon Webb was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 96 yards on 24 carries as Bay beat Jerry Pollard's team. Teammate Alec Gordon added to the ground attack by rushing for 21 yards.
Purifoy was the best wideout in 5A District 1 this week as the Crusaders bested the Eagles.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Michael Layfield. The Bay star has 5 catches for 149 yards.
West Florida took down Milton 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
