The College Park Cavaliers won the last time they faced the New Caney Eagles, and things went their way on Tuesday too. College Park came out on top against New Caney by a score of 33-26. Given College Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while New Caney is ranked 1084th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
College Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tara Mallya, who scored eight points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Katie Westwood, who scored five points.
College Park's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for New Caney, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.
College Park will look to defend their home court on Friday against Conroe at 1:00 p.m. Conroe is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for New Caney, they will head out on the road to face off against Caney Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Caney Creek is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
