Baseball Recap: Francis Parker Comes Up Short

Francis Parker extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-15-1 in the process. They lost 15-8 to the Bishop's Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 on Monday.

Spencer Perry was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Ryan Woods also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Bishop's, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games.

On Bishop's side, Henry Armstrong made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Armstrong has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.

In other pitching news, Grayson Blatt looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Dane Larson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kyle Rippel was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

While Francis Parker had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
