Basketball Preview: Juarez-Lincoln Huskies vs. Nixon Mustangs

Juarez-Lincoln has been on the road for five straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Nixon Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Juarez-Lincoln will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1526th, while the Mustangs are ranked 277th).

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 79-42, which was the final score in Juarez-Lincoln's tilt against the Lobos on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Nixon had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.1 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mission Veterans Memorial 90-43 on the road.

Nixon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mason Vela out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine steals. Another player making a difference was Jose Escobar, who scored 20 points along with two steals.

Juarez-Lincoln dropped their record down to 2-29 with that defeat, which was their 25th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Nixon, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season.

Juarez-Lincoln was dealt a bruising 94-18 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Escobar, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Now that Juarez-Lincoln knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
