Football Game Preview: Barbe Buccaneers vs. Southside Sharks + How To Watch

The Barbe Buccaneers will take on the Southside Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Barbe is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Carencro on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Buccaneers came up short against the Bears, falling 63-42. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (40), the Buccaneers still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Barbe got top-tier performance from Jelandon Gray, who rushed for 168 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, and also threw for 208 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Myles Ledoux was Gray's top target, picking up 126 receiving yards and one score.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jordin Griffin, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Southside entered their tilt with Lafayette last Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Lions 45-24. That looming 45-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Sharks yet this season.

Southside's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Barbe, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
