Volleyball Recap: Chino Hills Falls Despite Big Games from Anthony Sabbara and Sean Spicer

Chino Hills was the 3-0 winner over Rancho Cucamonga when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chino Hills Huskies fell just short of the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chino Hills actually scored more points across those five sets (96-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-18, 16-25, 14-25, 15-12.

Despite the loss, Chino Hills had strong showings from Sean Spicer, who had 25 kills, nine digs, and two aces, and Anthony Sabbara, who had nine digs and two aces. Those nine digs gave Sabbara a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Guevara, who had 13 digs and five aces.

Chino Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Chino Hills will face off against Los Osos at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they will host Damien at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
