Softball Recap: Forsyth Home Educators Wins Going Away Against Hickory Grove Christian

Forsyth Home Educators had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Hickory Grove Christian on Tuesday. The Hawks blew past the Lions 12-1. Considering the Hawks have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Abigail Smith and Ellie Lambert made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Smith didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Lambert pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Smith went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple, while Lambert went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Isabelle Welborn and Emma Groce did most of the damage at the plate: Welborn went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Groce went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Groce a new career-high. Rebecca Cheek was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI.

Forsyth Home Educators has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Forsyth Home Educators will venture away from home to challenge Wesleyan Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they will welcome Greater Cabarrus S at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
