Softball Preview: Perry Bluejays vs. Denison-Schleswig Monarchs

The Perry Bluejays will head out on the road to square off against the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Perry is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.

Perry will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Wednesday, then bounced right back against Hoover on Monday. Everything went Perry's way against Hoover as Perry made off with a 14-7 victory.

Maci Tunink spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Emmalee Bell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Karagyn Whelchel, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Denison-Schleswig had to settle for a 5-4 loss against Lincoln on Tuesday.
