Football Recap: Fleming Island Golden Eagles vs. Fort White Indians
Fleming Island had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They breezed by the Fort White Indians to the tune of 45-0. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won five contests by 27 points or more so far this season.
Leading Fleming Island to victory were Cibastian Broughton and Demhir Jackson. Broughton rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, while Jackson rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Jackson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 111 rushing yards. Sebastian Cruz got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Fleming Island was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 220 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort White only rushed for 79.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Fleming Island's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Jackson with two.
Fleming Island has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Fort White, they dropped their record down to 5-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
