Basketball Recap: Twin Peaks Classical Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Cleo Baker and Kaleigh Van Pelt

Twin Peaks Classical Academy was the 54-31 winner over Mile High Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Twin Peaks Classical Academy Timberwolves took a hard 51-34 fall against the Mile High Academy Mustangs on Monday. The Timberwolves were down 43-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Kaleigh Van Pelt and Cleo Baker certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Van Pelt dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 steals, while Baker posted 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance gave Baker a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Zeh, who put up four points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Twin Peaks Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They pulled down six more offensive boards than Mile High Academy's also-impressive total of 18.

Mile High Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addy Dodds, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Kylie Helm was another key player, going 7-for-16 on her way to 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Twin Peaks Classical Academy and nudges their season record down to 9-6. As for Mile High Academy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Twin Peaks Classical Academy has already played their next match, a 40-31 loss against Loveland Classical on the 12th. As for Mile High Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-35 defeat against Andrews Academy on the 12th.
