Recap: Dixie Flyers vs. Crimson Cliffs Mustangs
The Dixie Flyers put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Crimson Cliffs with points to spare, taking the game 77-62. Given Dixie's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Crimson Cliffs is ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dixie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyle Lemke led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Lemke's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Roberts, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 assists.
Crimson Cliffs' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Felts, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Felts set a new season high mark in rebounds with 13. Luke Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists.
Dixie's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Crimson Cliffs, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dixie is on the road again on Thursday and play against Orem at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully Orem focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday. Crimson Cliffs and Manti will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Manti knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Crimson Cliffs likes a good challenge.
