Basketball Recap: Mesquite Takes a Loss

Mesquite was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes and fell 55-25. The game marked the Skeeters' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Duncanville was led to victory by Samari Holmen and Trystan James. Holmen went 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points and three steals, while James went 6 for 8 en route to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Aja Smith, who posted 11 points.

Mesquite's loss dropped their record down to 14-17. As for Duncanville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 25-6 record this season.

Mesquite will look to defend their home court on Friday against Waxahachie at 6:00 p.m. As for Duncanville, they will square off against Cedar Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Hill is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Duncanville a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
