Even though Mineral Wells has not done well against Graham recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Mineral Wells sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 22-19 victory over Graham. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Mineral Wells has posted yet this season.
Mineral Wells found their leader in underclassman Jaylee Newman, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Stephenville suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Glen Rose 74-29. While losing is never fun, Stephenville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Glen Rose is ranked ninth).
The win makes it two in a row for Mineral Wells and bumps their season record up to 17-12. As for Stephenville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-10.
Mineral Wells couldn't quite finish off Stephenville in their previous matchup on January 5th and fell 30-28. Can Mineral Wells avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
