The River Oaks Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Tallulah Academy Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. River Oaks knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Tallulah Academy likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, River Oaks needed a bit of extra time to put away Tensas Academy. They came out on top against the Chiefs by a score of 11-7.

Logan Laforge made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Kaden Ramer was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Davis, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tallulah Academy). They walked away with a 7-2 win over Briarfield Academy back in March.
Like River Oaks, Tallulah Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: JT McDaniel. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. McDaniel was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Moberley, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Tripp Gayle was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Tallulah Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Briarfield Academy only posted a batting average of .259.
River Oaks is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. Tallulah Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3.
River Oaks suffered a grim 26-3 defeat to Tallulah Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
