It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Maine South ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Evanston Wildkits 4-3. Four seems to be a good number for the Hawks as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jake Zabratanski looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evan Adamczewski, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Constantine Coines was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run.

Maine South has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Evanston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-14.

Maine South will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildkits: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
