Baseball Recap: Huntington North's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Huntington North won the last time they faced Peru and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Vikings walked away with a 9-4 win over the Tigers. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brayden Gearhart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Tyler Williams and Marcus Linker did most of the damage at the plate: Williams scored three runs while going 4-for-4, while Linker went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in RBI (two). James Linker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Huntington North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Huntington North back to even at 4-4. As for Peru, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Huntington North will host Warsaw at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 12.5 runs per game this season. As for Peru, they will be playing at home against Frontier at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
