Basketball Game Preview: Dixie Hornets vs. Thornwell Saints

Dixie is 3-0 against Thornwell since January of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dixie Hornets will challenge the Thornwell Saints at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Wednesday, Dixie ended up a good deal behind Ninety Six and lost 46-29. The Hornets have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Thornwell was beaten by Greenwood Christian 65-14 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Hawks are ranked 117th).

Kendra Wilson was Thornwell's leading scorer, having posted six points.

Dixie now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Thornwell, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Everything went Dixie's way against Thornwell in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Dixie made off with a 51-30 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dixie since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
