Recap: West Columbus Vikings vs. Wilson Prep Tigers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the West Columbus Vikings walked away with it. They managed a 21-16 win over the Tigers on Friday. The victory was nothing new for West Columbus as they're now sitting on nine straight.
West Columbus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Unique Kelly, who threw for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Bellamy, who gained 79 total yards and a touchdown.
Wilson Prep's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Christian Richardson, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Richardson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Khamani Barnes, who rushed for 90 yards on only five carries.
West Columbus has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 12-1 record. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.14 points. As for Wilson Prep, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-2.
West Columbus will head out on the road to face off against Tarboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tarboro is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Wilson Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
