Football Recap: Long Beach Poly Piles Up the Points Against Compton

Long Beach Poly won the last time they faced Compton and things went their way on Thursday too. The Jackrabbits simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tarbabes 55-22. The result was nothing new for the Jackrabbits, who have now won three games by 33 points or more so far this season.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Long Beach Poly, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kamarie Smith, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Long Beach Poly didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Deon Jackson and Kingston Pierre.

Several Tarbabes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Edward Rivera, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one score. Rivera also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making two total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass. Compton also got help from Micah Hawkins, who showed off his sure hands for 141 receiving yards.

The victory made it two in a row for Long Beach Poly and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 22 points in those games. As for Compton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

As of now, neither Long Beach Poly nor the Tarbabes have any future games scheduled.
