Basketball Game Preview: Southwestern Rebels vs. South Dearborn Knights + Official Tickets

The Southwestern Rebels are taking a road trip to challenge the South Dearborn Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Southwestern is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.

Southwestern took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Clarksville with a sharp 55-32 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Generals: they've now won nine in a row.

Among those leading the charge was Olivia Simpson, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 16 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. Those 16 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savannah Nussbaum, who posted two points along with eight rebounds, seven assists, and six steals.

Southwestern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 16 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, South Dearborn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 51-32 bruising from North Decatur. On the bright side, the 32- point effort marked the Knights' highest-scoring contest to date.

Southwestern now has a winning record of 3-2. As for South Dearborn, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Southwestern strolled past South Dearborn in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 50-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
