League recap: Love breaks off league-leading run for Wake Forest

4A Conference 11 recap September 10, 2013

Bryce Love of Wake Forest ran for the longest rushing play in 4A Conference 11 this season against Cary last week. Love ran for 89 yards on the play and finished with 165 on the day as his team bested the Imps.

Sanderson scaled the state rankings by moving to 203 from 263 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Spartans were able to make move up by beating Apex 17-14.

Wakefield's dynamic duo of Evan Brabrand and Jake Butler proved to be unstoppable against Northern, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brabrand threw for 171 yards and 2 touchdowns and Butler had 62 yards receiving. Josh Lowery helped Wakefield's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 66 yards.

The Wolverines' dynamic duo of Brabrand and Butler proved tough for the Knights to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Love was the best running back in the league this week. Devonte Reynolds also contributed to the rushing game with 68 yards on the ground.

Brabrand put up the best numbers in passing as Wakefield defeated Northern.

Butler was the best wideout in 4A Conference 11 this week as Rod Sink's team beat R.J Wilson's team.

The Wolverines' Brabrand and Butler have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Brabrand has thrown for 471 yards this season, while Butler has 10 catches for 146 yards. Love from Wake Forest leads the league in rushing with 454 yards.

Heritage and Knightdale played the most contested game in the league this week, with Heritage eventually emerging with a 23-22 victory.
