Basketball Game Preview: Carroll Cougars vs. Maconaquah Braves

The Carroll Cougars will square off against the Maconaquah Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Carroll is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Clinton Central for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-34 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Maconaquah's game on Thursday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They skirted past Northwestern 58-56.

Maconaquah's win came from a few key players Carroll will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was AJ Kelly, who went 6 for 14 en route to 19 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Murry, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Carroll's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.2 points. As for Maconaquah, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.

Carroll might still be hurting after the 85-60 loss they got from Maconaquah in their previous meeting back in February of 2024.
