Softball Recap: Rutland Comes Up Short

Rutland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 17-2 to the Jackson Red Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-7 on Tuesday.

Rutland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Payne, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Rutland's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Jackson, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Rutland will venture away from home to take on Morgan County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jackson, they will host Whitewater at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
