Basketball Recap: Shaw Falls Despite Big Games from Alenzo Talley and Javi Moore

Shaw was the 70-56 winner over Troup County when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between the Raiders and the Tigers didn't end well, with the Raiders falling 88-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (62), the Raiders still had to take the loss.

Shaw's loss on Tuesday came despite strong showings from Javi Moore and Alenzo Talley. Moore posted 19 points and five rebounds, while Talley scored 17 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Brenden Houston-Baldwin, who earned eight points.

Among those leading the charge was Vakeil Garretthammett, who put up 21 points. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmad Harris, who had 15 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Shaw fell to 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shaw will face off against Chattahoochee County at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Troup County, they will challenge Harris County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
